The Leek United Building Society's annual Schools Football Tournament Takes place at Harrison park

The Leek United Building Society's annual Schools Football Tournament has recently taken place at Leek Town Football Club's Harrison Park.

It was the 15th year that Leek United has organised the tournament, which was held over two evenings at Harrison Park, with a total of 14 Year Three and Year Four teams taking part.

In the Year 3 finals, St Anne's CE Primary, from Brown Edge, lifted the trophy – while Westwood First School, Leek, were runners-up.

And in the Year 4 finals, the result was reversed, with Westwood as winners, and St Anne’s runners-up.

The society provided a trophy and medals for the winning teams, and certificates were handed out to every player taking part.

Presentations were made by Leek United Chief Executive Andrew Healy and Leek Town FC Chairman Jon Eeles.

Andrew said: "Our schools football tournament has become a regular fixture on the local sporting calendar, but more importantly, it’s all about promoting sport, involving local people and engaging with the community.

“This year’s tournament has coincided with our signing a new three-year sponsorship deal with Leek Town FC, and we hope that our support will help the club to continue to grow and thrive, from grass-roots level upwards.”

Mr Eeles added: “Leek Town is proud to host this important annual event which brings the local schools together through football. Our community partner, Leek United, does a fantastic job of organising and administering the tournament, and Harrison Park is a fitting place to hold it – we look forward to continuing this relationship in the future.”
