Staffordshire Police Officers And Staff Hit The Heights For Charity

A team of control room staff will be swapping their headsets for woolly hats as they prepare to embark on the three peaks challenge in memory of a control room operator’s son.

Eight team members will be completing the national three peaks challenge in 24 hours on 26 June to raise money for Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) in memory of Joe Leyland who sadly passed away in 2016 due to an undiagnosed heart condition.

His father, control room operator Ian Leyland, has raised a total of £31,500 for the charity to date.

Control room operators Josh Snape, Annie Sant, Ian Leyland and Nikki Harris will be taking on the gruelling challenge alongside control room managers Charlotte Raftery, James Ball, Lucy Styles and PC Jen Rawsthorne.

All of the money donated will be given to CRY, a charity that supports young people who have been diagnosed with a heart condition, offer bereavement support to families affected and promote and develop heart screening programmes and medical research.

Last year, the same team took on the 10k Wolf Run to raise money for the same charity which saw them tackle an assault course consisting of 25 obstacles.
