Leek and Biddulph celebrate to VE day75th anniversary during Lockdown despite cancelling large scale


Despite the cancellation of large scale VE Day 75th anniversary commemorations, Leek Town Council is marking the day with a display of special commemorative banners at memorial sites around the town. The banners will be placed alongside the four war memorial sites located within the town: St Edwards Church; Ball Haye Green Recreation Ground; Leekbrook and the Nicholson War Memorial. Biddulph town council are promotting virtual VE day and are asking residents to take part in a virtual VE day by decorating houses in red,white and blue bunting and having a social distanced street party after they had to cancel their planned celebrations. to Join in Biddulphs celebrations At 7pm Moorlands Radio will play songs from the period along with readings by the Mayor of Biddulph Councillor Jim Davies, Biddulph Town Crier John Robinson, Councillor John Jones and Councillor Jill Salt.
