Concerns raised about three tier school system as lockdown lets schools reopen

concerns have been raised across the moorlands about children returning to schools on June 1st as outlined by the government to ease lockdown.

From next month primary schools are to welcome back children in nursery, reception, year 1 and year 6 However concerns have been raised as the moorlands uses the three tier school system where the transition years in the three-tier system are Years 4 into 5 and 8 into 9.

Staffordshire moorlands MP, Karen Bradley has written to the Education secretary and also raised the issue with Staffordshire county council she says we need flexibility in the moorlands to allow children to prepare for the transition.

Karen said, “I have raised this matter with the Department for Education and Staffordshire County Council. Clearly, the transition years in the three-tier system are Years 4 into 5 and 8 into 9.

“We need that flexibility in the Moorlands to ensure that those children that need to spend some time at school preparing for the transition are able to benefit from this.”
