Beauty spot plead with people to take their rubbish home
The Rudyard lake trust are pleading with people to take their litter home with them. The trust has seen all its income disappear during the coronavirus lockdown but visitor numbers are still up following a busy weekend volunteers at the lake had a clean up operation to tidy litter that was left by people. They are pleading with people to take their rubbish home as they have to pay for it to be removed.
Sharing the above photo online they released the following plea “This is an example of just One of our Ten waste bins at the Dam End at Rudyard Lake. It was emptied at 4pm yesterday along with the many items of rubbish & litter strewn all across the area and collected by one of our volunteers. Whilst we want you to enjoy Rudyard, especially in these difficult times, we would like you to appreciate that as a Charity we depend on volunteers to assist to make this a pleasant place to visit, not only that but you probably don’t appreciate the fact that we have to pay to have this litter removed and its money we don’t have because currently we haven’t got any income. So, as they say, we are between “a rock & a hard place”, do we keep collecting & try to keep paying to have it removed or do we leave to attract vermin, flies etc until all this blows over? Please help us to help Rudyard & take your litter home, you brought it to the Lake, why can’t you take it home? Our volunteers will be pleased to supply you with a black bag if you want one, and if you really want to help a litter picker to borrow to help them keep Rudyard Lake beautiful. Thank you in anticipation of your understanding, Stay safe The Rudyard Lake Trust“
