A giant water-slide is set to make a welcome return to Brough Park This Weekend

A giant water-slide is set to make a welcome return to a Moorlands park this weekend for a family extravaganza.

Now in its fourth year, the Leek Party in the Park and Carnival 2019 is set to offer a great variety of activities in Brough Park for all the family to enjoy.

Taking place on Sunday, June 16, this year's community extravaganza is set to include live music from Missing Link and White Knuckle Ride on the bandstand, fairground rides, free face painting, Punch and Judy, Moorlands Radio, the town crier, licensed bars, ice cream, street food, and much more.

For many, both young and old, the star of the show will be the return of the 100 metre giant water-slide.

Events Chairman and Leek Town Mayor, councillor Roy Tomkinson said: “As it’s Fathers’ Day, why don’t you treat Dad to the water-slide?

“It’s £5 for two rides and all proceeds go towards staging the event.

“I would like to thank all the volunteers from the town council’s events team who freely donate their time and to the community who support this event each year.”

Not to be missed is the carnival parade, which will be led by Leek and Moorlands Carnival Queen, and will start from Ball Haye Green Recreation Ground at 12.30pm.

The carnival parade, which will also include decorated floats, the Buxton Billerettes, along with visiting Queens and retinues, will make its way through the town centre finishing in Brough Park at 2pm.

The crowning of the new Queen, Miss Poppy Knight, will then take place.

During the year, Poppy will be fundraising for Young Minds, St Paul’s Church and other local charities.

The Party in the Park event in Brough Park will from 11am until 5pm.
